Tom Bonnell Achievements at Savannah Country Day School

Tom Bonnell served as Head of School at Savannah Country Day School from 2004-2009. Under his leadership, the school underwent many changes and improvements such as the construction of two new buildings and a significant increase in the school’s fiscal position due to more efficient budget management.

 As Savannah Country Day School’s Head, Tom Bonnell led a major capital campaign which successfully raised 10 million dollars for the construction of a new 56,000 square foot Lower School Building. Mr Bonnell also oversaw the construction and completion of a new 36,000 square foot Middle School building during his term. Aside from these major projects, Tom was also able to successfully manage the fiscal resources of the school that contributed to the generation of significant budget reserves which amounted to over $50,000 from 2004 to 2006.

Aside from this, Tom Bonnell also developed a collaborative faculty culture that focused on curricular coordination and research-based best practice. This new collaborative faculty culture helped in enhancing cooperation between faculty members and resulted in more integrated, efficient and creative educational programs for students. Mr Bonnell also led a major initiative to increase diversity at Savannah Country Day School that resulted in growing the student of color population from 9% in 2004 to 16% in 2008.
